Do you have a passion for community service? Are you interested in developing skills to take action on issues you care about? The Center for Civic Engagement is seeking applicants for Leaders in Engagement, Advocacy, and Democracy (LEAD). LEAD promotes deeper engagement between students and the local community and supports students in developing the knowledge and skills to succeed as current and future community leaders. Through participation in workshops, reflection, and placements in local nonprofit organizations, students in the LEAD program will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to advance civic change and serve as valuable members of their community.

Learn about Binghamton's faculty led summer study abroad program in Colombia! Instituto Caro y Cuervo is housed in the heart of Bogotá in La Candelaria, one of the oldest colonial neighborhoods in South America.

Study Abroad: Spring Break 2025 in Italy!

Spend spring break 2025 in Italy engaging with questions about “making” in the ancient Roman world - namely what processes and people were responsible for crafts and craft production in the Roman Mediterranean. Visit archaeological sites and museums in and around Rome (Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Baths of Caracalla, Pantheon, and other locations). Excursions beyond the city will take students to Tivoli, Ostia, and Northern Suburbium. Earn 4 credits (SCHL 282A - 01). General education credit will be offered for Aesthetics (A), Information Literacy (I), and Oral Communication (O). Previous knowledge of the course content or Italian is not required.

Binghamton 2 Degrees: Live at Confluence Park 2024

Join us for the second year of the most fun and community-engaging event! Binghamton 2 Degrees is back with a vibrant community arts and music festival focusing on climate change. Enjoy live music, local artists, food trucks, and family-oriented activities such as participatory art, storytelling, painting, and educational booths.

By inspiring action through art, the festival offers the Southern Tier community a chance to come together, share their experiences with the natural world, and ponder, "What will Binghamton look like under two degrees of warming, and what can we do now to prepare?"

Get Involved
Be part of environmental, community art! Join us at our community collage/public art installation with renowned environmental artist Steven Siegel and Binghamton 2 Degrees! All community members are welcome to contribute—no art experience needed. Bring recyclable items like popsicle sticks, old grade reports, ticket stubs, and other small meaningful pieces of paper (no plastics, please). Note: Hot glue and staples will be used, so ensure safe handling.

Green House Tour

Take a self-guided tour of the E.W. Heier Teaching and Research Greenhouses! This facility is designed to function as a living laboratory for Campus and the Department of Biological Science's plant and ecology related courses, as well as research space for faculty and graduate students. More than 4,000 exotic plants, representing over 1,000 distinct species, are maintained in, and around, the Teaching Greenhouse. Four simulated environments - tropical, warm temperate, cool temperate and desert - facilitate students' understanding of the diversity of plant species and their ecologies. Plants are labeled with information regarding their taxonomies, geographic origins, common names and economic uses.

Study Abroad: Spring Break 2025 in Italy!

Spend spring break 2025 in Italy engaging with questions about “making” in the ancient Roman world - namely what processes and people were responsible for crafts and craft production in the Roman Mediterranean. Visit archaeological sites and museums in and around Rome (Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Baths of Caracalla, Pantheon, and other locations). Excursions beyond the city will take students to Tivoli, Ostia, and Northern Suburbium. Earn 4 credits (SCHL 282A - 01). General education credit will be offered for Aesthetics (A). The first 250 students will get a reflective stripe sportpack!

Green House Tour

Take a self-guided tour of the E.W. Heier Teaching and Research Greenhouses! This facility is designed to function as a living laboratory for Campus and the Department of Biological Science's plant and ecology related courses, as well as research space for faculty and graduate students. More than 4,000 exotic plants, representing over 1,000 distinct species, are maintained in, and around, the Teaching Greenhouse. Four simulated environments - tropical, warm temperate, cool temperate and desert - facilitate students' understanding of the diversity of plant species and their ecologies. Plants are labeled with information regarding their taxonomies, geographic origins, common names and economic uses.

Learn about how your internship during the fall semester can help you earn college credit! CDCI 395 is a course that students in any major can take along with an internship to get upper level course credit. The course is implemented by the Fleishman Career Center.

CDCI 395 is an online, asynchronous seminar course taught through Brightspace. Each week, students will be assigned readings, discussions, and activities designed to teach important skills that will give them an advantage when looking for a full-time career. The course teaches students leadership skills, the power of networking, professionalism, teamwork, equity/ inclusion in the workplace, and how to enhance your critical thinking abilities all while reflecting on your internship. THEA 208 is an Acting I class for students with previous
experience in acting or students who want to get actor training at a deeper level. To
audition, you need to prepare a memorized one-minute monologue or poem from

Green House Tour

Take a self-guided tour of the E.W. Heier Teaching and Research Greenhouses! This facility is designed to function as a living laboratory for Campus and the Department of Biological Science's plant and ecology related courses, as well as research space for faculty and graduate students. More than 4,000 exotic plants, representing over 1,000 distinct species, are maintained in, and around, the Teaching Greenhouse. Four simulated environments - tropical, warm temperate, cool temperate and desert - facilitate students' understanding of the diversity of plant species and their ecologies. Plants are labeled with information regarding their taxonomies, geographic origins, common names and economic uses.

Learn about how your internship during the fall semester can help you earn college credit! CDCI 395 is a course that students in any major can take along with an internship to get upper level course credit. The course is implemented by the Fleishman Career Center.

Featured in all aspects of Jazz at Lincoln Center’s programming, this remarkably versatile orchestra performs and leads educational events in New York, across the U.S. and around the globe; in concert halls; dance venues; jazz clubs; public parks; and with symphony orchestras; ballet troupes; local students; and an ever-expanding roster of guest artists. Under Music Director Wynton Marsalis, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra performs a vast repertoire, from rare historic compositions to Jazz at Lincoln Center-commissioned works, including compositions and arrangements by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Fletcher Henderson, Thelonious Monk, Mary Lou Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Charles Mingus, and current and former Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra members Wynton Marsalis, Wycliffe Gordon, Ted Nash, Victor Goines, Sherman Irby, Chris Crenshaw, and Carlos Henriquez.
