Global Networking Group:
The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and the Office of International Education and Global Initiatives (IEGI) are continuing the pilot program, originally named 'Global Connections Program' (GCP), for the Fall 2021-Spring 2022 academic year. It is being renamed to the 'Global Networking Group' (GNG).
The Binghamton University GNG aims to promote meaningful interactions between current students, develop intercultural communication skills, and strengthen community among students. The program also aims to be as inclusive as possible. As such, every student who completes the Interest Form is generally accepted. Each student will be grouped with other students in a 'pod' based on common interests. These groups will be autonomous. To provide structure though, students will be strongly encouraged to attend the 2 events per month with the entirety of GNG in order to meet other members.
Eligibility:
- Must be a current Binghamton University student.
- Must commit to participating in the program for the entire 2021-2022 academic year. If you are graduating prior to Spring 2022, you are unfortunately not eligible.
- Both virtual and in-person activities will be offered*.
Important Dates and Deadlines:
- Deadline to submit Interest Form: Sunday, September 5th at 11:59pm
- Initial 'Kick-Off' event where you'll meet your group: Thursday, September 9th at 4pm

Students will be asked to sing 16-32 bars a cappella for the Theatre Department's singing teachers, Professors Peter Sicilian and Carolyn Amory. Calling all musicians and music lovers: come to the first Mountainview Jam/open mic of the semester, up in the amphitheater under the APP dining hall! There will be a full band setup, with mics, PA speakers, full drum kit, an electric guitar and amp, an acoustic guitar, a bass guitar and amp, lights, and cables to plug in additional instruments. We will have disposable mic covers on hand. All levels and all styles welcome, including singers with or without backing tracks, and poets as well. Perform by yourself, with a friend, or with the house band, Dr. Dana & the Jam Dept, or just come out to listen and support your fellow students. This is open to all, so feel free to invite your friends from other communities. (Faculty and staff are also welcome.) Let's rock! NOTE: starting at 8pm, there will also be s'mores around the fire pit!

Want to learn how to take the public bus? See a local movie theater, supermarket (Walmart), and ice cream shop? Learn more about the area surrounding campus? Then meet in front of the University Union (across from Mohawk Hall) at 1:30pm.
Leadership volunteers (volunteers who are continuing students) will then join you on the 1:45pm #47 Bus to travel to the Town Square Mall. Leadership volunteers and participants will then take the 2:35pm #47 Bus back to campus. You should be back to campus by 3:00 p.m. Bring your student ID so that you can ride the bus for free.
