Friends and Comrades:
Happy New Year! I hope everyone is enjoying their break.
Last semester we got the ball rolling as we began meeting in person and received our Student Association Charter. We hope to continue from that start to bring our organizing into full swing next semester.
As a quick update on the end of the semester, we passed a new Code of Conduct, and our Bake Sale fundraiser brought our funds to a total of $246.95 as of the end of the semester.
Gearing up for the Spring, I am asking for responses to This Voluntary Survey of our members and supporters so that we can get a better sense of our chapter. It is relatively short and should only take a few minutes at most.
Most of the important work of our chapter next semester will be guided by our Committees. If you are interested in working with any of them, please use the following links. Remember, you must be a member of the chapter (on our roster) to join a committee.
Join the Labor Committee.
Join the Campus Affairs Committee.
Join the Elections Committee.
Join the Political Education Committee
All Readings for the Political Education Committee are available here.
To officially join Binghamton University YDSA as a chapter member, fill out this form.
In addition, it is the recommendation of the Central Committee that all members of Binghamton University YDSA join DSA's official membership (paid or waived) and affiliate with our YDSA Chapter.
Also, there are several events coming up this week:
Tonight, January 10th, at 8 pm, DSA's National Medicare for All Campaign is hosting a 2022 Kickoff.
On Thursday, January 13th at 6 pm, over Zoom, Binghamton DSA is holding a Regular Meeting. It would be great to have as many YDSA members in attendance as possible. RSVP for details.
On Thursday, January 20th at 6 pm, also over Zoom, Binghamton DSA is holding an introductory meeting for the chapter. RSVP for details.
We may hold a chapter meeting at some point over the next two weeks before the Spring Semester to set up some campaigns ahead of time. It will be over Zoom if it does indeed happen. it may be held in an executive session (open only to members of the chapter).
In Solidarity,
Adam I. Ascione D'Elia
Secretary, Binghamton University YDSA
