I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend. We are meeting again, TONIGHT, at 5 pm in LN G 412. Please register on B-Engaged.
Tonight's meeting will have an election to fill the upcoming vacancy as our Treasurer and President of the Treasurer, Ethan Rosenblum will be graduating this fall.
Anyone interested in running for the seat must be a member in good standing, which are the same standards as voting rights within the chapter:
1. Membership in the organization shall be open to any member of the campus community, including students, faculty, and staff, at Binghamton University.
2. Eligibility for membership or appointed or elected student officer positions in this organization may not be limited on the basis of race, sex, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, physical or mental handicap, ancestry, or medical condition.
3. Any person member of the campus community shall be designated a member provided that said person has attended at least one (1) meeting and submitted a written declaration of membership to the Secretary.
4. A member is in good standing provided:
a. The member has attended no fewer than half the total number of general meetings that have been held in the current semester or since declaring membership but no less than three (3) meetings if the member declared membership after the sixth meeting during the current semester.
b. The member is not subject to active suspension by the Central Committee
c. The member upholds the basic values of Socialism
The duties of the office are as follows:
The duties of the Treasurer and President of the Treasury shall be:
a. To manage any funds of the organization
b. To fill out University or Student Association grant request forms when necessary
c. To serve as lead organizer for two (2) fundraisers during their term
d. To ratify the expenses of the organization
e. To attend any University or Student Association functions mandatory for organization presidents
All candidates must officially nominate themselves at the meeting tonight but may announce their candidacy beforehand. The election will proceed by majority vote, meaning that a candidate must receive 50%+1 votes to be elected, if no candidate achieves this, the vote will be repeated until it is satisfied (but no candidates will be eliminated between rounds except by their own concession).
The new Treasurer will begin their duties on December 18th, the day after the official end of the Fall Semester.
Also, tomorrow evening, December 2nd, the Campus Affairs Committee is hosting a screening of La Chinoise in LH 010 at 7 pm. Register on B-Engaged.

The Labor Committee will be meeting on Tuesdays, at 6:30 pm in LN 1402.
The Campus Affairs Committee will meet on Thursdays, at 2:30 pm in CW 202.
The Elections Committee will be meeting on Fridays, at 5 pm in CW 310.
The Next Political Education Meeting will be Friday, December 3rd at 4 pm.
The readings for this month will be Marx's Value, Price, and Profit, and Capital, Vol. 1, Ch.1.

In addition, it is the recommendation of the Central Committee that all members of Binghamton University YDSA join DSA's official membership (paid or waived) and affiliate with our YDSA Chapter.
