Chenango Forks Summer Enrichment Camp internship

Support summer enrichment initiatives at Chenango Forks Elementary School. Staff are running a two-week camp (July 12–23) that supports kindergarten–fifth grade students in reading, math and character education lessons. Interns will support one or two classrooms providing small group mentorship, helping students with organization and leading reading groups.

The following two weeks (July 26–Aug. 6) will be a camp that interns will be running themselves! Interns will plan and implement camp activities that focus on social-emotional learning standards and STEAM projects. You will get experience running small groups, planning activities, collaborating with staff, engaging with families and data collection. After the camp ends, interns will work side by side with Community School Coordinator Stephanie Davy to support community school development at Chenango Forks, including community outreach, identifying ways to educate staff on racial disparities/ways to promote social justice, family engagement and grant writing.

Graduate summer intern needed for community needs survey

The UHS community relations director at UHS Delaware Valley Hospital is seeking a summer intern to assist with a community needs survey. The survey would be distributed to residents of Walton, N.Y., to evaluate various opportunities for social engagement.

Walton intends to work towards becoming an AARP Livable Community, which takes all ages into consideration, not just seniors. Therefore, the rationale behind the survey comes from the AARP Livable Communities Program and WHO 8 Domains of Livability — five of which pertain to community, inclusion and socialization: social participation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication and information, and community and health services. When community livability is bettered, stress on community members is reduced, pride is increased and the overall outlook on life improves.
