Pledge to Vote

Pledge to Vote

Pledge to vote and help Binghamton come out on top in two new voting challenges! Binghamton University will compete against campuses across New York and the America East conference as part of the New York Votes Challenge and the America East Votes Challenge.

Take the pledge today and show that Binghamton students are ready to vote! Check out the leaderboards and encourage your friends to pledge to vote with you! Weekly drawings will give participants a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card, and a grand prize winner will receive AirPods!

Voter registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 9!

Students may stop by the CCE (UU-137) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for assistance with registering to vote or requesting an absentee ballot, or to drop off completed forms. There is also a secure drop box outside the office for voter registration forms and absentee ballot requests, which is accessible anytime the Union is open. All forms brought to the CCE will be delivered to the Broome County Board of Elections.

CCE staff can also provide virtual assistance with voting questions. If you need assistance, email the CCE or call us at 607-777-4287. Visit our voter engagement page for relevant forms and deadlines.

The CCE will only be accepting voter registration forms until 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9. After that, students will need to take their form to a local post office to be postmarked.

Volunteer and internship opportunities

Some community engagement opportunities will be limited this fall due to prioritizing the health and safety of our students and community members. There will be some in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities available for students, though. Students can visit the Service Listings and our website to find current opportunities.

impactBING CORE volunteer opportunities

Get to know the community as an impactBING CORE volunteer! In-person and virtual opportunities are available with a range of focus areas, including food security, neighborhood development, computer literacy and more. The Center for Civic Engagement guides students in exploring volunteer roles, connecting with community partners and having a successful local volunteer experience.

To apply complete the impactBING CORE interest form.

Libraries create Anti-Racism Research and Resource Guide

The BU Libraries have created the Anti-Racism Research and Resource Guide that provides a curated selection of resources and materials on topics related to anti-racism, racial justice, and systemic racism. It is a tool to support those interested in learning more about these topics. Books from the library collection, podcasts and videos, databases for research, and reading lists are just some of the many resources included.

For more information contact Jen Embree or visit the website.

Collaboratory Research Fellows Program

Collaboratory, a national database to further understanding of the practice and scholarship of community engagement, is excited to launch the Research Fellows Program. The program recognizes exemplary and emerging scholar-practitioners who are committed to advancing the field of community engagement. Fellows explore research and programmatic efforts that enact Collaboratory’s mission and support member institutions and the broader field of higher education community engagement. Fellowships are designed to give practitioner-scholars a national platform to pursue research and programmatic ideas that correlate with ongoing Collaboratory initiatives. National Voter Education Week

National Voter Education Week (NVEW) — Oct. 5–9 — helps voters bridge the gap between registering to vote and actually casting a ballot. During this week of interactive education, voters have the opportunity to find their polling location, understand their ballot, make a plan to vote in person or remotely, and more. Get the tools, information and confidence you need to cast your ballot during NVEW!
