Ongoing CCE Funding Opportunities for Establishing Community-Based Learning, Teaching, and Research
Community Engagement Faculty Teaching and Research Enrichment Grants support faculty with up to $2,500 in related project expenses for one of three tracks: 1) teaching community-engaged learning (CEL) courses, 2) course-based community-engaged research. and 3) community-based research and scholarship. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) Course Development Stipends of $1,000 are available for developing a new or revised course that integrates community-engaged learning (CEL) and successfully obtains a CEL course designation. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Community Engaged Teaching Fellows Program provides a $2,000 stipend to faculty to be part of a community of practice that guides the design and implementation of effective community engaged rese26arch, teaching and learning. 2023-2024 Fellows applications are due Friday, May 26, 2023.

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) offers programs, events and resources for faculty/instructors interested in developing and sustaining high-impact community-based learning, teaching and research across all disciplines. This workshop will focus on funding opportunities to support this work through Community Engagement Faculty Teaching and Research Enrichment Grants, and Community-Engaged Learning (CEL) Course Development Stipends. It will also review guidance for designating CEL courses and through the Banner registration system, and tracking and showcasing faculty work through Collaboratory: An Online Community Engagement Database. Tracking and Showcasing Faculty Work through Collaboratory: An Online Community Engagement Database. Friday, April 21, 11 am - 12 pm
Administered through the Center for Civic Engagement, Collaboratory -an online database, is the University's platform for tracking and showcasing community engagement and public service activities. This workshop will highlight how to effectively use it and showcase case studies from faculty who have been actively involved in documenting their community-engaged learning and research experiences for assessment and outreach. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to ensure their work is represented on the platform ahead of its formal announcement in Fall 2023. Register Here:
Binghamton University Community-Engaged Research and Learning Showcase
Wednesday, April 26, 2023 from 1:30 – 6 pm in Old Union Hall.
This event will provide examples of establishing authentic, reciprocal and mutually beneficial community partnerships, outcomes, and broader impacts. A focus of the conversations will be on defining frameworks for community-engaged research and learning, and scholarship; broader impacts and societal impacts; and University initiatives to support this work. From 1:30 -2:30 pm a Workshop facilitated by Dr. Laurie A. Van Egeren, Assistant Provost for University-Community Partnerships, Michigan State University, will highlight diverse multidisciplinary examples of integrating community-engaged research and learning by Binghamton University faculty and students with community partners. Following the workshop from 3-4 pm will be a Keynote Address by Dr. Van Egeren on ways to enhance and support community-engaged scholarship in higher education. At 4 – 6 pm following the Keynote Address the event will transition to a poster session and reception showcasing Binghamton University and community partner engaged research and learning projects (See Call for Proposals below).
Call for Proposals: Community-Engaged Learning and Research Showcase
The CCE invites you to apply to participate in the Community-Engaged Learning and Research Showcase from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, in UU-Old Union Hall. This event is an opportunity for you, your students and your community partners to exhibit the results and outcomes of your community-engaged learning and/or research project for students, faculty, administrators and the larger community. Participants in the poster showcase are also invited to attend a faculty workshop and keynote beginning at 1:30 p.m. Additional details regarding the sessions are to follow. Call for Proposals: Ross University and Community Projects Fund Applications
The Stephen David Ross University and Community Projects Fund is now accepting applications for the 2023 grant cycle. The fund will award approximately $26,000 in grants to support initiatives carried out through collaborations between local nonprofit organizations and University partners. Nature of the Program: The Provost's Award for Faculty Excellence in Community-Engaged Teaching honors Binghamton University faculty who have demonstrated an exemplary commitment to community engagement that helps to create meaningful change through their teaching. Community-engaged teaching involves faculty, students and community (local, regional/state, national, global) in a mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity. Call for Proposals: The Engagement Scholarship Consortium seeks proposals for its 2023 annual conference: Mobilizing Change through Engaged Scholarship. The conference will be held October 4-5, 2023 (Pre-Conference: October 2-3, 2023) in East Lansing, Michigan (Michigan State University). The Engagement Scholarship Consortium is composed of higher education member institutions that work toward the goal of building strong university-community partnerships anchored in the rigor of scholarship and designed to help build community capacity.
