You may notice some abbreviations on Section 8 of the SDS that you may have never seen before. Several regulatory agencies publish exposure limits for based on either a Short Term Exposure Limit, STEL, usually a 15 minute exposure. Another frequently used value is the amount of allowed exposure over a full shift, usually 8 hours. This value is called the Time Weighted Average, or TWA. Together these two terms give us a good idea of what a safe exposure limit is when working with a material.
Chemical Inventory Changes coming
EHS is excited to annouce we have been working to provide chemical inventory management software for the university. The rollout of the software will be stepwise as the inventories are ready. More details to come!
Flammable Cabinet Door Reminder
Please remember flammable cabinet doors should be closed and latched when not in use. Every time you take something out, close the door and latch it! Failure to latch the doors voids the purpose of the cabinet, and may leave contents susceptible in case of a fire.
