I hope the spring semester has wound down well for everyone. As we go into an uncertain summer facing the reality of preparing for and managing distance learning for many of our courses, do not give up on developing community-engaged learning and research opportunities. The last few months have shown the great demand and innovative ways in which faculty, students and community partners have managed to maintain a virtual and online commitment to community engagement. Some resources on how to include experiential learning opportunities in virtual courses have been provided by the Educational Advisory Board (EAB) national organization.

I will be available throughout the summer to work with you one-on-one to develop or modify your distance learning community-engaged teaching and research plans for fall 2020. In addition, the CCE is maintaining on our website a list of online and virtual service opportunities.

As always, the CCE staff and I are all here to facilitate and strengthen community connections for sustainable and mutually beneficial community-based learning and research, whether that experience is in person or through some other means.

The goal for each of the CCE faculty newsletters is to share opportunities for professional development related to community-based teaching, research and scholarship. Feel free to reach out to me at any time to discuss your interest in these activities.
