Take a leadership position with Bridge@Bing

Bridge@Bing is a student group on campus dedicated to connecting the political left and right through civil discourse and empathetic dialogue. BridgeUSA empowers the youth to fight for a less polarized democracy. We, the youth, will be the future leaders of this country, but we need to learn how to converse across the aisle. This is essential to sustaining our democracy.

Bridge@Bing runs one-hour biweekly discussions where ideologically diverse students come together to discuss political issues in a respectful manner. Events start with a short introduction to the topic followed by two 20-25 minute breakout sessions. In groups of 6-8 people, including a moderator, students discuss a set of prepared questions about their perspectives on the issue. After the two sessions, we come together to reflect and conclude.

Bridge@Bing is looking for a president, vice president of outreach, vice president of research and vice president of finance. Students who are passionate about Bridge's mission and are self-starters with a growth mindset are great candidates for these positions. The founders of the chapter are ready to hand off the organization to bright, young leaders who will work to bridge the political divide. We will work with you to ensure you are well prepared to take on the role.

If you are interested in any of the above positions, fill out this Google Form. One of us will reach out to you to schedule a time to meet to discuss the role and if you are a good fit for the position.

Also, check out our Instagram page, @bridgeusabing, to see what we've been up to. You can also find more information on the national organization on their website at bridgeusa.org. Both of these resources should give you a better idea of what we are all about!

Reforming Our Food System with Bridge@Bing

8 p.m. May 11

America emerges from lockdown and faces a changed food system landscape. COVID-19 brought the sharpest rise in U.S. poverty since the 1960s. As consumers deal with local food shortages and rising retail prices, producers grapple with supply excesses and dispose of perishable food that cannot be stored. Across the country, people of many backgrounds struggle to access the food that they need to live healthy lives. These issues affect democrats and republicans alike. In tandem with local partners, Bridge@Bing, Bridge@KU and Bridge@IU will convene a discussion on how we can build a food system that works for all Americans. Join the discussion on Zoom.
