CCE news and updates

Important New York state voting information

Governor Cuomo has issued an executive order postponing NY's presidential primary to June 23. The presidential primary will now take place on the same day as the previously scheduled local, state and federal primaries. As all but one candidate has left the race, we are awaiting information on whether or not N.Y. will host a presidential primary. If you plan to vote in the primaries, are currently registered to vote in Broome County and will be unable to vote in person in Broome County, you have some options to cast your ballot. We recommend either requesting an absentee ballot be sent to your home address OR updating your voter registration address so that you can vote in person at home. Governor Cuomo has also issued an executive order allowing all N.Y. voters to vote via absentee ballot due to COVID-19. Voters should select "temporary illness" as the reason they are requesting an absentee ballot. Visit our voter engagement page for relevant forms and deadlines, and contact the CCE or your local Board of Elections for additional assistance.
