Topic: “Inclusive pedagogy for neurodivergent instructors: working with
ourselves”
This two-part workshop focuses on the challenges and rewards of university teaching at
a moment when students are increasingly open about being neurodivergent (ND).
Across two sessions, we will cover topics such as: the medical, legal, and social models of
disability and how these play out on university campuses; masking, stimming, and other
foundations of ND culture for neurotypical (NT) instructors; managing accommodations
and classroom dynamics in neurodiverse classrooms; and the craft of creating courses,
assignments, and assessments that support ND students and ND faculty.
Participants will have a greater understanding of ND students and experiences, and
pragmatic tools for immediate classroom implementation.
