As an effort to prevent and respond to discrimination and harassment, SUNY has required all student leaders on state-operated campuses to complete this workshop.

This Title VI Student Workshop is designed to educate students on their rights and responsibilities under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. It emphasizes SUNY’s and Binghamton University’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and safe learning environment free from discrimination based on race, color, or national origin.

Participants will:
Learn about policies and regulations that prohibit discrimination

Understand the differences between a bias, hate speech, and a hate crime and learn strategies to Support peers and ways to contribute to a respectful campus climate.

Learn how to respond to a bias-related incident and know the steps to take to file a bias incident report.

Will engage in case studies and group discussions will engage participants in learning and application.

Learn about relevant campus resources for support
