UDiversity Educational Institute is pleased to promote the 2025 - 2026 Inclusive Pedagogy Series. This structured set of workshops provides an opportunity to create a more equitable, accessible, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Our guest lecturer this year is Dr. James Pitaressi and he will provide ethical guidance on effective teaching with AI in this new era.  Each session has engaging activities and provides opportunities for discussion.

These series are specifically recommended for new faculty, graduate teaching assistants, and staff who work closely with students. Lunch is provided for each session, and all sessions are held in a hybrid modality to expand access to all university campuses and faculty who are unable to attend in person. At the end of the series, participants who complete attendance at all workshops will earn a Certificate of Completion. The series will also run in the Spring semester.

The time for each session is 11:30 am - 1:00 pm, and the location is Classroom WING 331

Session I ~ September 23, 2025

Creating a Shared Dialogue and Inclusive Syllabus will focus on ways to build a more inclusive syllabus and learn practices to engage students from diverse backgrounds. Faculty can bring their class syllabus to review and evaluate. Participants will have an opportunity to exchange ideas and brainstorm practices that create a learning environment that is welcoming.

Session II ~ October 7, 2025

Principles of Community: Strategies for Classroom Management will explore strategies to understand student motivation and self-efficacy to improve academic performance and the college experience. Most importantly, participants will understand the importance of setting boundaries, improving communication, and building relationships with students.

Session III ~ November 18, 2025

Teaching with Generative AI: Harnessing the Good, Mitigating the Bad, and Addressing Bias will guide educators in understanding the importance of using AI as a tool in the classroom while also pointing out “pitfalls” that can be a hindrance to critical thinking and lead to unconscious bias. Participants will have an opportunity to engage in discussion and gain knowledge from the presenter.

Register here in B-Engaged for each session of the Inclusive Pedagogy Series. You may also contact dei@binghamton.edu or call (607) 777-4775 for assistance and to request for accommodations for a disability, if needed.
