Inclusive Pedagogy Series: Part I

The Inclusive Pedagogy series is a dynamic and eclectic approach for adopting a holistic
approach to supporting students from various backgrounds. Although learning is a
cognitive process, it is also a social and emotional one as well. Proactive instructors can
foster a sense of belonging in the classroom by building trust and increasing social
awareness through various techniques. This series of workshops is intended for all
faculty (e.g., adjunct, assistant, associate, clinical, etc.), teaching assistants, and
professional staff who work as academic advisors or directly involved in student
development.
Participants will attend 90-minute sessions monthly. Those not able to attend in-person
can elect to attend via Zoom. Lunch is provided monthly for in-person participants and
registration is encouraged. Participants will be provided with a workbook with content
from each session.

This workshop equips educators with practical strategies to create learning
environments where every student feels seen, supported, and able to thrive.
Through interactive discussion and case examples attendees will learn how to cultivate
classroom norms that promote respect and shared voice; redesign syllabi to signal
inclusion and transparency; and apply universal design principles to reduce barriers and
expand access.
