Call for DANCERS

WHAT: Dance auditions for Atmospheres and Environments graduate student René Neville thesis dance performance (advised by Neva Kenny)

WHEN: Dance auditions held 6–8 p.m. Monday, January 23

WHERE: Fine Arts, room 104 (FA-104)

AUDITION INFO:

wear loose comfortable clothing / bare feet or soft-soled dance shoes
general group warm-up followed by provided creative choreography combo
all levels of dance experience welcome
all genres of dance experience welcome
all roles are open to dancers of all races, ethnicities, religions, body types, gender identities/expressions and sexualities
performers can earn 1 to 2 credits of Theatre Practicum (Pass/Fail)


DANCE PROJECT INFO:

Performance dates: 8 p.m. March 16, 17, 18 and 2 p.m March 19, in Studio A

Regular rehearsals: 6–8 p.m. Monday/Wednesdays or Tuesday/Thursday and 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. Sundays. Beginning Jan. 29


Atmospheres and Environments is inspired by the sculptural work of artist Louise Nevelson. This dance project will explore the bodily movements of dancers in space through landscapes of minimalist scenery filled with light and shadows. The dancers essentially become the living embodiment of sculptural art.
