Love to act? Sing? Perform? Play an instrument? The Theatre Department has open auditions for the Spring 2023 mainstage shows; Thrive or What You Will {an Epic} by LM Feldman, directed by Lisa Rothe and Rent by Jonathan Larson, directed and choreographed by David Wynen! These productions offer great opportunities for different styles of acting and singing.
All registered Binghamton students are welcome to in-person auditions on Tuesday, Nov. 15 and Wednesday, Nov. 16 in Casadesus Recital Hall, located floor 1 of the Fine Arts Building. Sign up for your slot here.
Callbacks are December 6–9, 2022.

How to audition:
Actors and Singers - Students of all experience levels are welcome!
- Experienced Actors and Singers should audition with a prepared one-minute monologue, and/or 16-32 bars of a song**.
- Your audition song should have contemporary pop/rock influences, and may be either from the musical theatre canon or a contemporary pop song.
- Students who are new to auditioning may be interested in another option where you can choose from the following options:
- Audition with the provided song from Rent, and read provided scene from Thrive or What You Will
- Audition with the provided song from Rent and perform your own prepared one-minute monologue
- Read provided scene from Thrive or What You Will and sing 16-32 bars of your own prepared song**
- Audition with the provided song from Rent
- Read provided scene from Thrive or What You Will
**Please bring sheet music for our music director/pianist, Melissa Yanchak, to play for you. Accompanied auditions are much preferred over a cappella auditions!
Musicians for Rent Orchestra:
In addition to the Key 1/Conductor book, our RENT band will consist of the following instrumentation:
- Electric Bass
- Drums (Drum Kit, Electronic Percussion, Garbage Can Lid, Shaker, Sleigh Bells)
- Guitar 1 (Acoustic, Electric, Tambourine)
- Guitar 2/ Keyboard 2 (Acoustic, Electric & Keys/Synth - Keyboard can be provided)
