Faculty members Lakshmi D. Bulathsinghala, PhD and Samuel Elikem Nyamuame, PhD share some of their experiences as artists of BIPOC communities; working domestically and internationally in academic and professional communities. Bulathsinghala teaches Dances of South Asia in addition to teaching for the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies and is a professional film, television and theatre actor in Sri Lanka. Nyamuame teaches African dance with students that create the Nukporfe African Dance and Drumming ensemble every semester. In Africana Studies and in his research, he explores the role of music and movement in identity. Moderated by dual English/Sociology major, Theatre minor, Patrick Saint Ange; don't miss this deep dive into the artists' experiences in the realms of academia and commercial work.
