I hope you’re doing well and off to a great start of the Spring 2026 semester! My name is Michael Henningsen, and I am the Assistant Director of Transfer Year Success and Programming in the Department of Student Transition and Success at Binghamton University, and the proud advisor for the Alpha Omega Chapter of the Tau Sigma National Honor Society.
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news—you have been invited to join the Alpha Omega Chapter of Tau Sigma! ๐ Your outstanding academic performance during the Fall 2025 semester meets the criteria for membership, and we are excited to recognize your achievement.
Tau Sigma is a national academic honor society dedicated to celebrating the success and engagement of transfer students. Membership is offered to students who transferred to Binghamton, completed at least 24 credits at a prior institution, and earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher in their first semester at Binghamton.
Sometime next week, our National Office will send you an email with instructions on how to formally accept your invitation. Please be sure to check your inbox—and your spam/junk folder—if you don’t see it right away. The email will come from no-reply@tausigmanhs.org.
Students often ask me about the benefits of joining Tau Sigma. I like to say that the experience is what you make of it. In addition to national recognition for your academic success, members gain access to a community built specifically for transfer students, leadership opportunities, national scholarships, and other professional and academic development resources.
Your formal induction ceremony will take place on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the Chenango-Champlain Collegiate Center (C4) Multipurpose Room, where we will induct both the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 classes. More details will be shared as we get closer to the event.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at 607-777-3344 or tausigma@binghamton.edu. You can also stop by the our office, located in the Chenango-Champlain Collegiate Center (C4) rm. 101. You can also learn more on our local chapter website and the national Tau Sigma website. Keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities to get involved with the chapter!
Congratulations again on this well-earned achievement. We hope you’ll join us, and we look forward to welcoming you to Tau Sigma!
Best,
Michael Henningsen
