Research & Practice in Substance Use Disorder Care Guest Lecture

All are invited to attend the upcoming guest seminar being provided by Dr. Charles J. Neighbors, Director of the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL) and Associate Professor in the Departments of Population Health and Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. An abstract is below. 

"Bridging Research and Practice: Academic-Public Partnerships in Substance Use Disorder Care"

Abstract: Academic-public partnerships can connect research, policy, and practice to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. Dr. Neighbors will discuss how collaborations between the NYU Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab and New York State agencies have advanced Medicaid and addiction health services research. Drawing on large-scale administrative and Medicaid data, mixed methods, and implementation science, he will describe HEAL's research portfolio and its contributions to healthcare system improvement. Examples from substance use disorder treatment, quality improvement, quality measurement, and health policy evaluation will show how these partnerships generate actionable evidence, support system reform, and improve care for vulnerable populations.

Bio: Dr. Charles J. Neighbors is Director of the Health Evaluation and Analytics Lab (HEAL) and Associate Professor in the Departments of Population Health and Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine. His research examines healthcare delivery, substance use disorder treatment, and health policy. He collaborates with New York State agencies, including the Office of Addiction Services and Supports, to evaluate healthcare programs and inform policy and practice. His work uses administrative datasets, mixed methods, and quasi-experimental approaches to study healthcare quality, access, and outcomes.
