Mountains and Water: Traditions in East Asian Art explores the diverse meanings, symbolism, and sacred dimensions of mountains and water in China, Korea, and Japan. The exhibition considers landscapes and scholar stones as both objects of aesthetic contemplation and sites of supernatural and cosmic power. Curated by Joseph Leach.
Also on view are two student-curated exhibitions: Capturing Music: Material Culture and Changing Notations in Medieval Music and Frames Within Frames: Intimacy through Visual Exchange. A third exhibition, Hands ON! Experiencing Art through Touch, curated by Amanda Jean Lynn, Manager of Education and Visitor Experience, invites visitors to engage with art through touch and builds on the museum’s commitment to accessible programming.
