The purpose of this event is to educate the General Body of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and how it is specifically impacting women. Hundreds of thousands of displaced women in Gaza are not only struggling to survive Israeli bombardment but also have to contend with private struggles trying to find washrooms and pads. Moreover, thousands of women are dealing with the trials and tribulations of pregnancy in unsafe living conditions, with no access to medical care. Women have been forced to put their own wellbeing to the side to take over as new heads of household, protect their children, and themselves. Some are even taking medications simply to prevent their menstrual cycles, due to the lack of resources and medical access. Women now are simply exposed to psychological and physical health risks because there are no products to use during their periods, a struggle so turbulent, yet they fear to make it public.
