Educate, Elevate, Empower is the motto for us as powerful united ladies, however the first E for educate was not always inclusive to women. Education in all facets whether by traditional standards or later accepted forms like the arts and STEM was not welcoming to women especially women of color. However, for years to come beginning in the 1910s and 1920’s specifically onwards women of color began to break down barriers and become the hidden figures behind the advancement of society in all realms. It took constant trials that ended in tribulation for little girls to see their potential and the history of women of color in education to continue. However, it is now more critical than ever that we continue this fight as we can see in our society that education is becoming more censored in classrooms limiting one’s exploration and experiences. That is why I decided to donate to the organization below as it takes a different approach to learning and fun that fosters play, sparks creative thinking, and builds self-esteem.
