The Pre-Law Advising Office is pleased to host a roundtable conversation on criminal law, criminal justice reform, and legal careers, featuring Eric Gartenman, senior assistant district attorney for Tioga and Broome Counties. Eric will discuss his current work in the special victim's bureau, as well as his earlier work in private practice, and he plans to develop our conversation into a workshop series for the spring semester. This will be an excellent opportunity for any student interested in a legal career or the criminal justice process more generally to talk with a professional currently working in the field.

A native of Buffalo, NY, Eric attended SUNY at Buffalo, graduating in 1998 with a BS in Communication with a minor in German. He then earned his JD from SUNY Buffalo Law School in 2003 and was admitted to practice in NY in 2004. After law school, he relocated to Binghamton to work as an associate at a local law firm. He has been practicing for the past 15 years in the public and private sectors. Over the better part of half of his legal career he has been serving as an assistant district attorney for Tioga and Broome Counties. He is currently a senior assistant district attorney working in the special victim's bureau at the Broome County DA's Office, in which capacity he has handled cases involving domestic violence, sex abuse against children, sexual assault, and child pornography.

Any and all are welcome to join us.
