Our panelists, Professor Utitofon Inyang and Dr. James M. Salinas Burns, will engage in thought-provoking discussions on the history, culture, and contemporary issues facing the African diaspora, drawing from their academic expertise and personal experiences.
Professor Inyang, an expert in Black spatial epistemologies, literary geographies, and visual cultures, will offer insights into how African diasporic identities are shaped by place, memory, and representation. Dr. Burns, a scholar of ethnomusicology, will explore the cultural expressions of the African diaspora, with a particular focus on music, and will share his research on West Africa. He will also introduce the BU Nukporfe African Dance-Drumming Ensemble, which he co-directs with Professor Elikem Nyamuame.

This event offers a unique opportunity to hear from leading scholars in Africana Studies and gain a deeper understanding of how the field shapes our perspectives on culture, identity, and social justice. Don't miss this enriching exchange of ideas!
