Join us for an engaging and enlightening panel discussion as we celebrate National Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month at the Multicultural Resource Center. This event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the rich and diverse contributions of Hispanic cultures to our society, while also addressing critical issues such as immigration.
Event Highlights:
Panelists' Insights: Our esteemed panelists, hailing from various Hispanic backgrounds, will share their personal journeys, experiences, and reflections on what Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month means to them. Through their unique perspectives, we will gain valuable insights into the significance of cultural heritage and the importance of preserving traditions.
Audience Q&A: Following the panelists' discussion, there will be an interactive Q&A session, providing attendees with the opportunity to engage directly with the panelists, seek further insights, and contribute to the dialogue.
This panel discussion promises to be a thought-provoking and eye-opening experience, encouraging dialogue, empathy, and understanding. We welcome individuals of all backgrounds to come together in celebration of Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month and to actively engage in the conversation.
Our Panelists for this evening:
Vanessa Cañete Jurado (she/her) joined the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Binghamton University in 2021. Her research and teaching interests include Hispanic cultural production, audiovisual translation, transmedia fiction, adaptation studies, and discourse analysis. In her courses, Vanessa encourages students to actively engage with local communities, critically analyze discursive practices, and explore the role of language and communication in social transformation.
Donna Villa (she/her) is a Junior in Binghamton University studying Political Science and History on the Pre-Law track. She is also the Political Correspondent for the Latin American Student Union this year!
María Luisa Arroyo Cruzado. (she/her) Puerto Rican Spanish, American English, German, & Farsi inform her multicreativities & life experiences as a Boricua poet & essayist of color. A first-generation college & graduate school student; a mother; and a passionate college instructor, María, 55, encourages everyone in her circles of influence to own their brilliance! Currently, María is a PhD student in Comparative Literature & a Clark Diversity Fellow.
