In early 2025, New York State launched nine social care networks (SCNs) as part of the 1115 Medicaid waiver efforts. These SCNs are responsible for coordinating and delivering new Medicaid benefits designed to improve health-related social needs (HRSN) for eligible members. Care Compass, based in Binghamton, NY, is one of the nine awarded SCNs and is actively coordinating new benefits such as food, housing, and transportation interventions. In this discussion Mark Ropiecki, the Executive Director of Care Compass, will share examples of these new services in the Southern Tier region, explain how Medicaid enrollees can access them, and discuss their anticipated impacts to the Medicaid program.
