Artificial intelligence is transforming research, education, and everyday life, but what does it take to power it? The Sustainability Hub invites you to attend this informal talk that offers a balanced, accessible overview of how AI data centers operate, how they are cooled, why they require significant energy and water resources, and the overall environmental implications of their rapid expansion.

Esteemed speakers Dr. Srikanth Rangarajan and Dr. Bahgat G. Sammakia will discuss both the benefits and the cooling complications of AI infrastructure, and highlight emerging strategies and technologies that can help mitigate these impacts. Attendees will gain a more general understanding of how AI actually operates, and an understanding of the trade-off and opportunities shaping the future of AI and its environmental impact.
