Upcoming QC Traditions
Q Café Tuesdays occur from 6-8 p.m. every 2nd Tuesday of the month in the Q Center (LS-G549). Through a mix of music, live performances, games, and information sharing, Q Café is an opportunity for the LGBTQ+ of Binghamton University to support and learn from each other. Every Q Café will have a different focus but will always be centered on reflection, listening, and fun. We hope to see you at the next one! Light refreshments will always be provided.
Crafternoons occur from 2-3 p.m. every 3rd Wednesday in the Q Center (LS-G549). Crafternoons are a time to come together to embrace creativity and community through engaging craft projects and unique art forms. Every crafternoon will be a bit different and no prior crafting experience is required to participate. All supplies will be provided unless otherwise stated prior to each event. We hope to see for the next one!
Gender Bender Fridays will occur from 4-6 p.m. every 4th Friday of the month in the Q Center (LS-G549). Gender Bender Fridays highlight our newly redesigned Gender Bender Walk-In Clothing Closet in the back room of the Q Center while also providing a critical investigation into gendered fashion and resisting the gender binary. Come to hangout and leave with some new outfits, friends, and information! Each Gender Bender Friday will explore a new topic of discussion. We hope to see you for the next one!
Launched last semester, the Gender Bender Walk-In Clothing Closet was specifically created with transgender and gender non-conforming people in mind. We hope this closet will be an affirming place for everyone to explore their gender and resist the gender binary. We are always taking donations of most clothing items including shoes, belts, and other accessories.
Active Ally Foundations is a two-hour discussion-based workshop series that examines the lived experience of LGBTQ+ people and challenges participants to identify what it means to be an ally. Through deep learning about human sexual identity, examining the impacts of oppression and privilege on LGBTQIA individuals and communities, exploring intersecting minoritized identities, and engaging in experiential activities, participants will craft what allyship to LGBTQ+ communities looks like for them.
Active Ally Deep Dives is a one-hour discussion-based workshop series that highlights and examines a specific facet of LGBTQ+ life and culture. This is the follow-up to the Active Ally Foundations workshop and is not recommended for those who haven't participated in a foundations workshop. Topics for discussion will be generated during the workshop.
