This course studies the representation of weaponized drones in visual arts. We will pay special attention to the representation of human rights violations in the relevant drone art. We will begin with Moore and Pinto's Writing Beyond the State to understand how "representation practices might generate alternative human rights social imaginaries." We will then read and reflect over the works of some contemporary art historians and critics like Thomas Stubblefield, Roger Stahl, and Ronak K Kapadia to equip ourselves
with relevant critical terms and concepts to analyze drone art. We will finally discuss various forms of drone visual arts including Robert Greenwald's documentary Unmanned: America's Drone Wars (2013), Mahwish Chishty's Drone Art, Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox's
Dronescapes, James Bridle's Dronestagram and Laura Poitras' Astro Noise.
