Join Bearcat physician alumni couple, Dr. Michelle Bernshteyn ’14 and Dr. Andrew Hammoud ’12, as they share their medical journeys—and how they built a life together in medicine. Their descriptions are below:

Dr. Michelle Bernshteyn ’14:
Dr. Bernshteyn graduated from Binghamton with a concentration in integrative neuroscience. She earned a medical degree at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, where she completed an internal medicine residency and served as Chief for Quality and Patient Safety at the Syracuse VA Medical Center. She then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Guthrie, where she earned the distinction of "Gastroenterology Fellow of the Year.” Dr. Bernshteyn remained at Guthrie and is currently a gastroenterologist treating patients with a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr. Andrew Hammoud '12
Dr. Andrew Hammoud graduated from Binghamton University with a concentration in cell and molecular biology. He earned his medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn and completed his residency in internal medicine at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City. Dr. Hammoud is a hospitalist at UHS Wilson Medical Center, specializing in internal medicine and working in conjunction with medical residents, nurses, and physician assistants, providing medical assessments and treatments to patients with a variety of medical conditions.
