Call for GSO Candidates!

 

Hello all graduate students! The GSO is looking for students who have completed at least one (1) matriculated semester at Binghamton University as a graduate student to run for three (3) positions within the GSO E-Board. Positions up for election:

  • President (stipend: $11,000)
  • Vice President (stipend: $11,000)
  • Vice President for Multicultural Affairs (stipend: $10,000) 
For those who have received 10 or more nominations, I sent an email today confirming the number of nominations received. I will send another on Friday 02/16/2024 to confirm the total number of nominations received. The last confirmation email will be sent on Tuesday 02/20/2024.
For those who have not met the required nomination by Tuesday 02/20/2024, should submit their letter of intent package by the deadline but will not be listed as a candidate except their nomination is complete by the deadline (See election calendar below for deadline).
Elections Calendar - Important Dates
 

Letter of Intent Nomination Begins – Feb 5th, 2024

Letter of Intent Nomination Ends – Feb 22nd, 2024 (Closes at 4 pm)

Candidate's meeting/orientation – Feb 23rd, 2024

Campaign Begins – Feb 24th, 2024

Meet the Candidate/Debate – March 12th/13th, 2024

Last day to withdraw candidacy – March 13th, 2024

Campaign Closes – March 14th, 2024

Election Day – Friday, March 15th – Saturday, March 16th (24 hrs)

If you are interested in running for a position that is up for election you must submit the following information (letter of intent package as ONE PDF FILE) to elections@gsobinghamton.org by 6:00pm on 2/20/2024:
 

  1. The candidate’s full name as it will appear on the ballot.
  2. A picture of the candidate (optional) 
  3. The candidate’s B-Mail email username.
  4. The position the candidate is seeking.
  5. The election cycle the candidate is running in.
  6.  A personal statement/platform (max 200 words)
  7. A copy of your CV/resume
  8. Collect 25 students' signatures that support that students candidacy. The signatures will be collected via BEngaged, with the links attached below (one form for each race). A student may only support one candidate per position, and once they submit a form they will not be able to edit it or resubmit it. Once you have collected 25 signatures, you may send the rest of the required information that is listed above to elections@gsobinghamton.org, which will confirm your candidacy for the GSO term: July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025.
