A 2024 graduate with a B.S. in Integrative Neuroscience, Lily will take you through her journey from undergraduate research at Binghamton to internships at Kallyope and Envisagenics, getting hired after graduation, and her work at the Crary Lab. Her story includes a connection sparked at a LifeSci NYC career panel that helped her find her way to an Envisagenics internship. It’s a real example of how exploring an interest and meeting people in science can open doors you hadn’t imagined.
Then, get a look inside a lab tackling a compelling mystery: why do some brain cells succumb to disease while others stay resilient? Led by neuropathologist and neuroscientist Dr. John Crary, the team brings together human brain tissue, stem cell models, genetics, and artificial intelligence to investigate a subset of neurodegenerative disorders - tauopathies like Alzheimer’s, Progressive Supernucleal Palsy and Parkinson’s.. Lily will introduce her work in this environment and her interests in how genes and their regulation shape brain health and disease.
Wondering how to find your first lab experience, make the most of an internship, or land a research job after college? Come hear the experiences that helped Lily build her path and consider what your own next step could look like. Bring your questions and your curiosity. Your research journey can start before graduation - as soon as this January! You’ll also learn what to expect if you've been selected to take part in a January employer site visit to the Crary Lab through the Fleishman Center’s annual NYC Connect Employer Trek Week.
