Alumni Chat: The Art and the Engineer with Emmy winning alumni Micha Liberman '95

Micha Liberman is an Emmy-winning music editor and founder of Mind Meld Arts, one of Hollywood's leading music editorial companies. Over more than 25 years in the industry, he has shaped the sound of acclaimed series including Only Murders in the Building, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Deadwood, and Virgin River. A Binghamton University graduate (BA Music, '95), Micha built his career at the crossroads of art and technology, combining classical music training with engineering expertise to become one of the few people in Hollywood who could truly speak both languages. In addition to his work in film and television, Micha is a recording artist under the name Micha Meir, and host of The Sounds of Hollywood podcast.

What Students Can Expect:

In this session, Micha will join us virtually to explore the false belief that you're either a technical person or a creative one. Through true stories from his career in Hollywood and an interactive exercise, he shows that everyone already has both sides running.
Students will walk away with a practical framework for recognizing when to let the artist lead and when to let the engineer lead, and why that awareness is especially valuable right now as AI reshapes the job market. This isn't just a lecture about Hollywood. It's a conversation about how to think with both structure and imagination, and why the people who do that well are the ones who thrive during times of change.
