The image above shows three hands of different ethnicities clasped together. Above the hands is a yellow heart. The background features a warm, watercolor-like peach and green texture with an abstract green shape in the bottom left corner. Overlaid on the image is a quote by Lisa Olivera:
“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn't mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.”

As we head into Emotional Wellness Month, it’s a good time to discuss emotional exhaustion. This can be a precursor to burnout, and it can sneak up on all of us.
Every day, we spend our emotional resources coping with various challenging work and life situations. All of these factors can empty our emotional tank and leave us feeling drained and disconnected from the things we enjoy.
Emotional health is just as important as physical health, so it’s super important to pay attention to our emotional energy and recognize when our reserves are running low.
Feeling a bit “blah” about everything lately? You’re not alone!
If you think you’re dealing with emotional fatigue, here are a few steps you can take:
- Acknowledge that it’s okay to feel this way
- Pinpoint what’s draining you, so you can take steps to reduce the stress
- Prioritize self-care
- Reach out. Whether it’s to family, a colleague, your doctor, or EAP, sharing your feelings can help lighten the load
