In 2021, I started work at New York Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center as a Mental Health Worker. I worked per-diem through my first degree and eventually became full-time up until I started nursing school. I worked primarily with psychotic disorders, but floated to units specializing in mood disorders, pediatric or adolescent psychiatry, or eating disorders for example.
Shortly before starting the B.A.T. program, I started at UHS Wilson as a heart monitor technician and was cross training in virtual sitting. While working in this role, I learned all about EKGs and Heart Rhythms, but also monitoring patient safety, respectively.
My favorite part of the B.A.T. program was most definitely my capstone experience in the ED at St Joseph's in Syracuse. Here I got to learn about emergency medicine in all regards, perform my first CPR (of many), triage skills, and practice a lot of clinical skills BU taught us in simulation labs.
From BU - I moved to Nashville 1 week after graduation while preparing for the NCLEX. I believe I was the farthest move after graduation from my year, we'll follow up on this later! Everyone at BU knew me as the line dancing kid, and as such, I started teaching line dancing in Nashville until I started my nursing career after a few bumps in the road.
I now work for Vanderbilt University Medical Center - a level 1 Trauma Center since 9/2025. I work on the Transitional Care Unit - a unit for those 18 years or older with various medical and surgical needs. We work adjacent to the ER and this unit has been a great place to build clinical skills and broaden knowledge. I have plans to move to ER soon and potentially pursue flight nursing down the road.
I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible!
