Indigenous Three Sisters Garden Events

All are cordially invited to a panel discussion on and planting of an Indigenous Three Sisters Garden (Maize, Bean and Squash) in collaboration with the Onondaga Nation on the Binghamton University campus, May 4, 2022, beginning at 10 a.m.


Partners from across Binghamton University will be planting an Indigenous "Three Sisters Garden" in collaboration with the Onondaga Nation, the central fire keepers of the Haudenosaunee, and in the spirit of the Two Row Wampum — G├ñ•sweñta' or The Silver Covenant Chain of Friendship. As a Living Treaty, "Together we will travel in Friendship and in Peace Forever; as long as the grass is green, as long as the water runs downhill, as long as the sun rises in the East and sets in the West, and as long as our Mother Earth will last."

Schedule of Events for May 4, 2022:

10–11 a.m., Fine Arts room 258: Speakers Angela Ferguson and Sarah Patterson (Onondaga Nation Farm), and Ethan Tyo (Akwesasne Mohawk).

11:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m., Science 1 Courtyard: Indigenous Thanksgiving blessing of the land and ceremonial planting of the sacred three sisters seeds.
