Your voice is needed to influence New York's legislative district lines! Every 10 years, states redraw legislative districts based on the results of the census. New York's Independent Redistricting Commission invites public input through community of interest maps and public testimony.

Join the Center for Civic Engagement to learn more about what redistricting is, why it is important and how students can get involved. This event will provide an overview of New York's redistricting process and walk students through drawing your own "community of interest" map and writing compelling testimony. Student community of interest maps and comments will be submitted to New York's Independent Redistricting Commission.

Please bring your own laptop to draw your map!

Want to provide input, but not available to join? You can submit a community of interest map through our drive in Representable or provide input directly to the commission online or during the Southern Tier hearing on Monday, October 25 at 4p.m. at the Innovative Technologies Complex.
