Join this interactive Skills Lab where the Rural Health Service Corps will give hands-on experience with the focus group process, including: Effective community engagement strategies, developing strong question routes, facilitating focus groups with confidence, qualitative coding and data analysis, and applying research insights to drive meaningful impact.

Deacon Hogan is a December 2023 graduate from Commonwealth University-Mansfield. He is currently serving as the Research and Evaluation VISTA with the Rural Health Service Corps. Deacon has a history working in the public sector as a substitute teacher and park director. As the Research and Evaluation VISTA, Deacon’s project aims to improve rural healthcare access by researching barriers through focus groups with the support of the Community Health team at Rural Health Network of South Central New York.
