The fifth and final Bitcoin Studies Spring 2025 workshop is arguably the most important of the semester: held in the Watson School of Engineering’s fabrication lab, you will learn how to mine Bitcoin using ASICs donated by Foundry Digital for educational purposes. In this lab, you will, moreover, see how mining Bitcoin and other proof-of-work currencies will create a greener and more environmentally sustainable economy by vastly reducing overall global energy needs through decentralized processes that incentivize the green capture of lost energy, the recycling and sharing of heat, and a socially equitable currency.
Whatever your position on Bitcoin is, whatever your interest is, whatever your existing knowledge is, you are welcome into our Bitcoin Studies workshops. We have five formal workshops per semester. If you attend all five, you will be part of the only university cohort in the country earning a comprehensive skillset in Bitcoin, from Bitcoin basics to running nodes, mining, and more
