About Us

Bitcoin & DeFi workshops educate students on using, deploying and developing with Bitcoin (and other proof-of-work chains) and decentralized finance (DeFi) to leverage their opportunities. This group is a core piece of Bitcoin Studies on campus that includes the Bitcoin Lab in Engineering, regular Bitcoin courses, Bitcoin internships, Bitcoin Student Research Prizes, etc. Two complementing intentions are, first, for students to learn more widely what Bitcoin is, how it works, how it is the greenest (most environmentally friendly) industry on the planet, and how it can be used to advance democracy and self-sovereignty, and progress academic research. To the latter point, the second complementing intention is for students to learn how Bitcoin can be used to write history and literature, publish research, run a university, and more.
