Details

Abby E. Murray is the poet laureate (2019-2021) for the city of Tacoma, Wash. Her first book, Hail and Farewell, won the 2019 Perugia Press Poetry Prize. During her tenure here at Binghamton, Murray was involved with the Binghamton Poetry Project. As the titles of her chapbooks make clear — How to Be Married after Iraq, Quick Draw: Poems from a Soldier's Wife, and Me and Coyote — as a military wife, Murray has a particular interest in issues related to active duty service and veterans. Jason Allen writes fiction, poetry and memoir, and is the author of the novel The East End (Park Row Books/HarperCollins) and the poetry collection A Meditation on Fire (Southeast Missouri State University Press). East End draws on Allen's experiences growing up a working-class "townie" in the tony Hamptons. This event is the second in the spring series of poets and authors reading from their own work, sponsored by the Binghamton Center for Writers, with support from the Department of English, General Literature and Rhetoric. The event is free and open to all.
