Binghamton Book Awards Winners Reading with Joe Jiménez and Monique Truong

Joe Jiménez and Monique Truong, winners of the 2020 Binghamton Book Awards, will be reading at 7pm on Tuesday, April 20. Introduction by Tina Chang, Director of Creative Writing. Joe Jiménez is the author of Rattlesnake Allegory (Red Hen 2019), for which he received the 2020 Milt Kessler Poetry Book Award, as well as the collection The Possibilities of Mud and the novel Bloodline. His essays and poems have appeared in The Adroit Journal, Iron Horse, RHINO, Aster(ix), and Waxwing, and on the PBS NewsHour and Lambda Literary sites. He lives in San Antonio, Texas, and is a member of the Macondo Writing Workshops.

Monique Truong is the Vietnamese American author of three novels: the bestselling The Book of Salt, and the award-winning Bitter in the Mouth and The Sweetest Fruits (for which she received the 2020 John Gardner Fiction Book Award). Recipient of the Bard Fiction Prize, New York Public Library Young Lions Fiction Prize, PEN/Robert W. Bingham Fellowship, Princeton University's Hodder Fellowship, U.S.-Japan Creative Artists Fellowship, and Guggenheim Fellowship, among others, she is also a former refugee, an essayist, lyricist/librettist, avid eater, and intellectual property attorney (more or less in this order). She's based now in Brooklyn, New York.
