About Us
The objective of the Fujianese Union (FJU) is to increase the cultural awareness of Fujianese culture among Binghamton University students and the campus at large. FJU will focus on the unique traditions observed within Fujianese culture. FJU will encourage and support the diversity of the university by uniting all people who share an interest in learning, respecting, and comprehending Fujianese culture and the Fujianese experience. It would provide Fujianese individuals a home away from home, thereby helping them stay connected with their roots. It's important to note that the majority of our Chinese students are from Fujian/have a Fujianese background, yet they know very little of their culture and traditions since their unique culture has been condensed into a broad, oversimplified "Chinese" identity.
